Literature Text

To be honest,
I never understood what it meant
to see poison
dripping from someone's lips,
the lies so bittersweet
each one is greedily sucked up.
But I have finally witnessed it,
and I can see right through
the miasma of your breath
plaguing through the air
and I refuse to swallow a single word.
Instead, I savor it
letting the flavor spill over my tongue
and when you're not looking
spit them all out.
I know better than you think I do
because my sugared voice
isn't really that sweet
and my ignorant eyes
are not stupid.
Everyone should know by now,
to never judge a book by its cover
and you ought to know
I have taken the time
to at least flip through
a couple of your stained pages.
I've been feeling more than usual lately. Bad for my emotions, but great for my writing.

Your poem has reminded me of a period in my life where I was in a relationship with someone very asinine and very, very deceitful and manipulative.

I think what's really inspirational is how you paint your poem, it's written in a way where multiple interpretations can be made, or how the way you explained these actions can be related to multiple scenarios instead of reflecting a specific subject. Writing in this way can be very difficult, but it allows for a larger audience to really appreciate your work and relate to it.

I think poetry is a window to the soul, and to be able to read it, you are able to interpret the person who wrote it and also repercuss with one's self.
